Celebrating Virgil & Conquering Cancer
This past Monday, on Oct. 7, we celebrated the 70th birthday of one this city's finest performers and nicest guys!!
Virgil Scott was surprised when he walked into a dead silent Timothy's Pub on Monday night. The room had been 'rehearsing' a flash freeze to surprise him upon his arrival! If you're at all familiar with Timothy's, you know it's never quiet in there. There is live music and/or something else going on every night and the place is generally filled up with people have lots of fun! So when Virgil walked in and saw a packed house in freeze frame statuesque positions he didn't know what to think! A loud surprise came next and the band kicked in.
I was honoured beyond words to have been asked to act as MC and get the night started. There were so many great musicians and friends who came out to share some love with a man who has given so much to others. As The Beatles so aptly put it , "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make".
Some of the guests who came out included, the house band featuring, Pat Carey, Don Baird, Tom Griffiths, Charlie Cooley and Terry Blersh! Other guests, to name a few, were Johnny Max, Stephen Ambrose, Johnny Wright, Matt Horner, Kevin
Phillips, Johnny O, Terry Martell, Gracie, Tom Barlow, Sil Simone...the list goes on!!!
So much love for a lovely man! Congrats Virgil.
Now... Coming up on Saturday, November 2. I'm pleased to announce it's the return of The 4 Piece Trio!! Walter E. Lee, Robbie Rox and Larry Bodner will be joining me at The Rangers Supporters Club in Brampton (185 Advance Blvd.) for a night of raising funds to help conquer cancer! The show gets underway around 8pm and will be the first time the band performs together in about 2 years!! All for a good cause!
Tickets are $20, which includes entry, food and a silent auction. Please see the poster above for more information and details!
